Ram Air System / NC35 or NC30 Carb Set up

Chaps,
I have been experimenting with ram air system designs for my RVF race bike; however I would like advice if anyone has experience of going down this road.

The options I have so far
I'm current running with NC35 carbs, with HRC copy air box lid, no scoop, It'd ok but looking to improve.

1) NC35 carbs with HRC copy air box with fibreglass scoop (Front of fairing) Fuel supplied by CBR600 fuel pump

2) NC30 Carbs, that sit in self contained air box, that is sealed by the tank (So the tank acts as the other half of the air box), coupled with ram air scoop. Fuel Supplied by CBR600 fuel pump

I understand the NC30 carbs are slightly larger with regards to throat size; my concern is with the correct air fuel ratios with the volume of air in this potentially huge air box, and running flat as a pancake, unless revving the arse of her.

This is uncharted territory for me, so would appreciate the help and advice.

Cheers
RSVR.

Option 1 will be much easier to get running properly. For best results combine it with an hrc jet kit (Rick Oliver sells replica parts). The rvf hrc induction setup generally works pretty well (if using all the parts, not just some of them!), what other mods does your engine/carbs have?

Option 2 sounds fine, but you need to modify the nc30 carbs or you'll have yourself a nasty midrange flat spot that the bike will struggle to rev through. You'll need to block or restrict the air jets at a minimum for it to run ok, the rest of the fuelling (jets, needles, emulsion tubes and pilot jets) you'll need to experiment with. You might also need to pressurise the float bowls depending on how effective your ramair is.

iv got a 92 uk model nc30 running nc35 carbs with full hrc race kit ordered from japan, i allso use the under carb air scoop and hrc rep lid with modifyed filter (i use mine on the road), iv tryed hundreds of set ups but the best compramise iv come accross is what i am now running, 142/145 mj, hrc emulsion tubes, the "B" needles on the longest setting, hrc vell stacks, hrc slide springs, k&n crank case breather, nc35 cams (longer duration on ex cam), full tyga exhaust system, last time i had it dynoed was before fitting the 35 cams and with a slightly different carb set up and she was making 65.5 bhp, this set up gives the best spread of power with only a tiny flat spot at 9000 rpm, i tryed to dial this out by going up to 145/148 mj but the fuel consumption was so bad, i was getting 60 miles out of a full tank, so i decided i could live with it, it is hardly noticable.
the nc30 hrc carb set up is a lot harder to get rite, so if i were you i would go for the 35 set up, i did make a small funel from the front of the fairing into the air box mouth, but to be honest it made little or no difference, trust in hrc they got it prety much bang on, why mess with what you know works, i hope this is of some use. below are some pictures, not sure if they will be of any use but there you go.
