Ok, I bought a pair of linear springs (race tech?) off Mr France last year for my R model nc29, just got around to fitting them due to waiting for my mate not using his abba stand, didnt seem any hurry.
Anyhow installed them last night and made a spacer up to match the original length of the spring/spacer, this gives around 24mm static sag with the preload at its most uncompressed level. I do get the feeling the spacers should be a tad smaller to gain more adjustment at the softer level but will have to do for now, no time.
Got to say even without any adjustment the ride is so much better but it would be nice to set it up right even though I have not got around to fitting my rear r6 shock, im still using the soft oem one. I only do commuting and the odd day out so not after track performance.
I do get the feeling I wil have to match the front settings of 41mm sag as that is as soft as it will go, so need to adjust my rear to match, can someone advise if this would work and if so which way do I turn the adjuster,do I tighten the adjuster to take it to 41mm or loosen it? Sorry cant think which way it would be, just gets confusing everytime I try to work it out (tired) Any other thoughts or help would be appreciated.
So, measuring the topped out and rider sag I get these measurements.
front
Topped Out 127mm
Rider 86mm
gives 41mm sag
rear (old oem)
Topped Out 470mm
Rider 423mm
gives 47mm sag

Tightening the adjuster = more preload = less sag. You might find the standard shock is already on it's max preload though.
You might want to set your front sag with the preload adjusters on the middle setting.
Recommended rider sag values are 35-48mm front, 30-40mm rear, according to this website:

As far as the front goes I dont want to set it midway because it is actually stiff enough for me, although I know that this is a good starting point. Perhaps if I get around to shortening the spacers it would work well that way. Mr France did say that 25mm static was a good starting point to aim for and to cut the spacers to suit, getting it to 24mm is not that far out, so despite no play to soften further I am happy with the front and honestly the bike feels much better in corners as it is, no over or understeer, it feels more planted and more importantly to me I dont create furrows with fork dive when stopping quickly, such a difference very happy and 41mm sag is within the 30/35% that some sites recommend . I did notice less rebound damping than I would like but I have adjusted it harder 1/2 a turn over the mid setting I set, will check it tomorrow on my way to work and adjust as needed.
The rear, well it is set half way and on smooth surfaces Im actually happy with it, on bumpy surfaces its a different matter, I want to tighten it to bring it more in line with the rider sag on the front, which is what I was aiming for, I will try tightening a turn and a half, hopefully it will bring sag inline. One day I will get around putting the other shock on.

Hi, well measuring yesterday and using the same points to measure with the shock set half way, static sag only appears to be around 4mm (reading 466mm, topped out is 470mm) but I will recheck tonight as that does not sound right to me, dropping only 4mm, wish I had brought my tape measure now.
