i didnt have the manual with me when i took the bike in, i had only come from work.
none of us knew what the healthy output voltage was, but we both knew it was supposed to be more than 2V.
when i did get home the manual still didnt quite say XYZ voltage is normal.
+ the more people who also say the alternator is buggered just confirms it. :0)
+in my 2nd post of the thread i did say it was diagnosed by an auto leky co... ;0)
need to call the shop and get them to fit a new choke cable while they have the bike.
alternator output voltage?

Re: alternator output voltage?
ahhh here we are again.....
so an alternator only lasts 3 years eh....
quick update:
Battery passed drop test= all good
brand new reg/rec.. which leaves....
the Alternator!
i have an old fashioned multimeter which i'll be honest i aint got a sodding clue which bloody set of bars i am supposed to BE reading!!! BUT...
no voltage increase from idle to 5K+ RPM.
So i am riding bike to work and gonna use a digi meter and check again.. !
