hi all
My nc35 isnt running right. Il start by saying ive recently had the bike into Honda and had the valve clearances set and carbs cleaned and balanced had my jets checked at 108's. Ive had a new copy air filter from David silvers and pulled the foam inserts that line the airbox snorkel off. The bike starts and runs perfectly if you increase the revs slowly when riding it will rev right through however if your riding at a steady speed and open the throttle to pull away it bogs down and splutters it feels like its trying to suck in too much air, if you ease of the throttle it will clear and pull away up to top end, when the throttle is wide open and im reaching top end, again it bogs and splutters and i can feel it holding back then trying to go. I have to play with it on the throttle by backing it off and on to get it to rev out but even then it dosn't feel at its full potential
The all important flap under the snorkel is in one piece and correctly fastened down i had my slides out and cleaned them up and they open and close fine the only other thing i can think of is the foam bit that lines the snorkel of the airbox. Is it that important? i wouldnt of thought it would make a difference but its the only thing i can think of thats different, also the guy at my local Honda said '' it could be the air filter, as its a copy and not a genuine the air flow isnt sufficent'' is this true or is he just talking it to try and sting me for a genuine Honda filter?
hope some one can help as im pulling my hair out with this now

Re: running issues with my nc35 help?
I reckon your problem is you you let a honda dealer loose on it, learn to do the carbs yourself, its not hard. Return all settings to standard and then go from there. The fact that your honda dealer is trying to blame the aftermarket filter is enough to suggest they havent a clue what there doing with any bike of this era, go on tell us how much they ripped you off for the work they done, i need a laugh
BTW im not taking the piss, if you live near me bring the bike over and i'll sort it out.

The air filter should be fine, so I'd put the foam bits back on the snorkle! They are important apparently and any mods to it will mess up the air intake and the bike will not run properly.
When the mind is relaxed, the body will go faster!

I agree with the other guy, I think the problem is you gave it to a stealership who will most likely fuck it up.Jono wrote:hi all

You need to take the carbs off and reset float height and pilot screws to factory settings. It's good you have the snorkel. I just learnt how to do it and it's not hard but it will just take a long time the first time around. I can get them off and change something and have it all back together in 30 mins now.
The biggest change that I made that effected how it ran off of full throttle and stopped spluttering when winding on the throttle is the float height.
Is it a stock exhaust and is it gutted or anything?
