Yeah David Silvers, Graeme France, Rick Oliver... all good for parts and the latter two fine gents use the forum too.
Also check you're chain is tightened correctly, as the issue you describe of it popping out of gear could be due to slack chain (sometimes happens on mine). Also if you do a service make sure to use semi-synthetic oil and not fully synth, as this can cause clutch slip apparently.
I'd get a new cable first perhaps, fit and install that and if that doesn't solve it then you can whip out the clutch and replace. I'd replace the friction and steel plates just for peace of mind if you're doing the whole thing anyway. If you have any issues you can always ask on here.

I might take a set of those plates too, I can't decide whether to just replace the friction plates or do an overhaul of friction, engine plates and springs too. I don't want to open up the bike to realise the engine plates + springs are fucked then have to wait another 4-5 days for parts - I need the bike daily :/

Thx mate, ill be doing a service and see how it runs before going to see DJ, bonus is though i only work down the road from him, i should have known about him really as my Dad went there for years, i worked in Reg Braddick and used to use his garage door as a goal when i was a kid :D
