RVF Fork Conversion - Lockstops

Post by dx400r » Mon Feb 07, 2011 1:23 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering what the best method of sorting out the lockstops out on a NC30 chassis running the NC35 fork conversion kit? Ideally to give me the stock amount of steering travel. Doesnt seem like I have an awful lot :?

Also one more random question... how far out of the top yoke do the forks sit? My new clipons are a bit beefy so have had to remove the circlips and so dont know what height they should be at.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Had similar issuse on an NC30 with a ZXR400 front end and I can't honestly remember what I did to solve it. Think I fabricated a bracket and fixed it to the bottom of the yoke.
I did have another where I bought a steering damper and used that. I can't remeber if that was a ZXR front end. Needed an argument when it came to MOT time as I recall.
How hard can it be?

Thanks for that Mr Munky! Is that aftermarket top yoke the same thickness as stock then?

Now you mention it, I did get a steering damper off rick lately so that might help. Mr Rick suggested a little bit of filing as a little bit of it should make a big difference ;)

Havent tended to it yet. Was hoping for a generally accepted method on this mod to be thrown up at me but maybe im gonna have to think on my feet on this one :geek:

Update on this one lads.

Have ground about 50% of the material off the lockstops to give me a bit more. It has seemingly partially solved it. But with so much material I wonder how well they would hold up if the worst happened....
