im using the sprocket cover and speedo drive from the new engine, i might try putting the old one back on see if that helps.
The only thing i have messed about with are the electrics

As a quickie, try disconnecting the speedo cable. that should tell you if its hitting a top speed limiter.
Did you do a compression test on the engine before fitting it? presumably as well you made sure it didnt have 33bhp restrictor washers in.

well i will try that this weekend and yes i did a compression test and everything was fine,
i had the carbs off but didnt notice any washers but im taking the carbs off this weekend so will double check

Are you using the same carbs as before or did the engine come with a set?

the engine did come with a set but i am using my carbs off the old engine as i know there perfect and nothing wrong with them, plus couldnt be bothered stripping and cleaning the carbs that came with the engine lol
