Both bikes have the same airbox..

What jets are in there.

The all start with VD...

Can't remember off-hand but NC21's are VDA' and NC24 are VDE (can double check this for you)

Haven't looked at the jets or anything yet, been plumbing in my partner's new washing machine instead... and the new battery came and I have to fill it, and the R6 rectifier came as well, ... oh, it's been a busy day at Castle Tranny...

I have a fairly free-flowing exhaust can (with standard downpipes) and I'm probably going to upjet one size from standard, if it's not been done already.

The only markings I can see are the letters VD on the outer carb body. Am I looking in the right place?

OK folks... I've finally got round to sorting through my new carbs...

The top of the carbs (the metal base of the airbox) has four velocity stacks attached to it, that says to me that it's an NC24 set... the carbs themselves have domed sliders (again, NC24?) and 112 main jets all round, with 4-hole emulsion tubes in the rear carbs and 5-hole emulsion tubes in the front carbs.

I'm thinking... shouldn't the main jets in the rear carbs be bigger (say 118), and are the emulsion tubes in the wrong places?

Odd.

The NC24 has 112F / 115R jets (Early Model), 115's all around later mode.

The NC21 ZH also has 115 all around (naked NC21) but the Naked NC21 (ZG) model has 110/112's.

NC21 has 110R / 112F jets.

What Model are they, it should be written on them somewhere.

I've seen NC21 carbs with NC24 plate / stacks on them. So it's not easy to go by jets / stacks.

They do sound like NC24 carbs with weird jets in them though, especially having the sliders.

From what I've seen, it seems to be a lottery as to what carbs are fitted to any particular bike- no two bikes are the same!

When I bought it, my VFR400-ZG NC21 had carbs similar to these fitted:

The join between airbox plate and carb mouth is sealed with a simple O-ring.
The carbs I've just fitted had stacks in its airbox plate, the collars of which would fit in a much wider groove in the carb mouth. No way would they have fitted my original carbs shown above and neither would the original airbox plate fit the new carbs.

Anyway. The whole lot has been cleaned and new jets fitted- 115's all round- and the carbs fitted.

When I eventually ride the bike I'll have a better idea of what I need to do, if anything.

Yeah those are standard NC21 carbs in your picture.

I believe that 'o-ring gasket' is on the carbs that come with the stacks too.

It's not really a lottery, i've got a list of what were fitted to what in my service manual, i'll write it up
