How can Imake my NC30 more comfortable?

Post by Stu-VFR » Mon Nov 08, 2010 3:05 pm

I passed my DAS in August and rushed out and purchased a 1991 NC30.

I am having second thoughts as its so uncomfortable. I've got it up for sale but no interest yet.

So if I end up keeping it how can I combat the wrist and neck pain?
I've looked into risers but it looks like they aren't available for this bike.
When I stretch out and hold the bars with my finger tips that seems better so a rise of 1/4 to 1/2 inch is all thats needed I think.
With my winter

I'm a bloke and 5ft 6inch, 14 stone, and only one person has said I look like an elephant riding a mouse. So I don't think I'm too big for it.

Any tips?

Rick Oliver does some clipons that raise the bars.... sorted ;)

Also, it is not a tourer so it is never going to be too comfortable..

I agree with Mark, it's never going to be 'comfortable' like a tourer.

Try Rick's raised bars but don't expect a miracle transformation.

Thanks,

I just don't like feeling old.

I'll have a look at the Rick Oliver site.

You might get used to it?

After a few months of riding you kinda get used to how the bike feels.

:plus:

im 5,9" and it fits me fine. Although i do get a neck ache at times.

the standard rearsets used to give me a wicked arse cramp on the gearchange side- but some adjustable rearsets fixed that.
as stated though id definately talk to Rick Oliver- hes the go to guy.

NC30's and similar arnt built for slow speed work, its a race bike for the road - if your wrists play up then try giving it more gas, the windblast will help... ;)

Look out for these or similar:

They may mean you wont be able to run your top fairing tho due to a fairing brace/bar interface prob...

im 5'5" and suffer terrible with back problems but they worsen when riding the NC30,

i fitted some crash bungs earlier this year and when riding long journeys 5mins with feet up on the crash bungs conforts the back for a short while.

i also do one handed which to helps the back and neck,

also use the spare arm as a rest on the tank!

its not a confy back admitidly, but its one reason why my next bike to buy a duke is on hold as i need a upright bike so the triumph triple street is the next one for me i thinks, but the NC30 will be safe as my excitement bike :)

(i wont sell her.)
