V-Twin oil

I'm getting ready to change the oil in the RVF, and after doing a quick search I found that you guys don't use full synthetic, but I haven't find anything about V-twin oil... Do you guys use regular inline 4 motorcycle oil or V-twin oil?

Most of the 'v-twin' branded stuff is 10 / 20w - 50.. just a higher grade as a lotta twins, think harleys etc are air-cooled and can run pretty hot.

I don't think theres anything else specifically added that what is in other motorcycle oils.

I had always used full syntethic oil in all my bikes/cars and never had any problems...

how true is the statement on the synthetic oil for the RVF?

Synthetic motorcycle oil designed for motorbikes (i.e. shared gearbox and clutch) should be fine.

Some synthetic and even some higher end part synthetic car oils have friction modifiers added to them, this can cause clutch slippage.

These oils are also not designed to go through a motorcycle gearbox, which can easily break the oil down a lot quicker than a car engine would.

Fully synth isn't a requirement of these bikes and modern day semi-synth is much better than the oil that was around in the 80's, so it is probably over-kill for these bikes. It shouldn't cause a problem though.

Honda Ultra S9 10/40 is the best stuff for the bike :)
