NC30 system

Hi all, my NC30 has a standard system with a slip on scorpion can, the system appears to be in decent condition, apart from the well known issue with rotten collector box joins. One problem is that the right side one is pretty rotten, but can be replaced easily with a stainless collar, the other problem is that some mong has been let loose with a welder and welded the left hand front pipe to the collector box because the collar has snapped off completely.

My question to you guys is would it be best to cut the front pipe at the weld so it comes loose and then cut the collector a bit and then weld on a slightly longer collar at a later date so I can sell it/have a spare
