LIGHT PROBLEM WON'T PASS MOT
my nc29 has got some sort of problem with the dipped headlights and the MOT center won't pass it.
the problem is that only one dipped headlight is working? i've chenged the bulbs and replaced the bulb all the way to the connector block thing and still only one dipped light works. not a massive problem as such except i can't pass MOT with it like this.
how can i fix this???

Re: LIGHT PROBLEM WON'T PASS MOT
Two possible answers -
Could you tape one up/remove it for the MOT only until you get it sorted?
Long shot but - are there seperate fuses for either headlight on the NC29?

You can tape up or remove the light should be OK but some testers can get funny.
Or you can tape up all the lights for a daytime mot.
The lamp should be spurred off the other lamp its not a fuse issue. Just poor condition wiring I expect.

Could be a switchgear issue - have you/previous owners ever used non-standard bulbs, ie H4s?

+1 on Wozzas take on it.
the switch gear dip switch gets damaged when non-standard bulbs are used..... non standard bulbs are anything H4, anything higher wattage than 35/55W

Re: LIGHT PROBLEM WON'T PASS MOT
nice one wozza i know the previous owner put in brighter headlight bulbs but think the dipped are standard? my switch gear is damaged tho cos the nob on the switch has snapped off. so could it be a mullered switchgear?
if so whare can i get one from cos my local honda shop can't even get nc29 parts up on system (they useless).
i'll take a chance and take the damaged one out and try a differant mot place for now.
cheers

Re: LIGHT PROBLEM WON'T PASS MOT
roight...
1) remove the bulbs in the bike and fit the weird Jap bulbs... 35/55W MAX!
2) your switch gear sounds past it. email Graeme France and scour ebay/email "breakers" off ebay
3) do not fit higher wattage bulbs after you get the "new" switch gear.
if you want to use UK H4 bulbs or higher wattage bulbs you MUST get the headlight relay/fuses upgraded to cope with the extra load.... thats why the witch gear burns out, it cant cope with the extra power going through it.
