Right, well my new exhaust clamps are here.
Here are my noob questions:
I can probably just bend them a little and squeeze them onto the pipes, but will this actually have any effect, or do I need to separate the pipes and tighten the clamp as I join the pipes.
And what substances do I need? Just a bit of exhaust paste around the edges? An acquaintance recommended also whacking some Copper-eze on.
Thanks
Anyone got a pillion seat mechanism diagram/pic?

Re: Noob fitting exhaust clamps.
Hi, if your putting exhuast paste on the joints your going to have to seperate the the pipes anyway. So splitting the pipes place the clamps on, and smear the joints with either exhuast paste/cement or silicone adhesive you can buy both from halfords.

Re: Noob fitting exhaust clamps.
Thats aslong as your pipes dont fall apart when taking them off!
Are your front pipes rusted where they meet the system under the engine? chances are if there really bad there just fall apart when you take them off. Easily fixed tho just get new collors welded on.

Re: Noob fitting exhaust clamps.
Thanks for the advice, guys.
I think I'll take a close look this weekend as it's my last week of college and I don't really want to make things more chaotic by destroying the exhaust!

Re: Noob fitting exhaust clamps.

This is what it looks like, do you think that'll just crumble and fall apart?
If not, I assume that what I do is: take the can off the hanger, work the pipes loose and then whack the clamps on with lots of paste?

Re: Noob fitting exhaust clamps.
The only permanent way of getting that fixed is removing your whole exhaust system, and taking it to get some stainless collars professionally welded in place.
If you just wang some clamps around with shed loads of putty/paste, that will either fail miserably or perhaps work for a just few days. Take this advise from someone who has had 2 exhausts repaired in the past.

Re: David's noob questions, all in 1 thread :)
So now, courtesy of that nice man Geoff33, I have the pillion seat parts...
And I fail miserably at putting it all together!
Does anyone have a pic of how it all fits together and attaches to the subframe and seat? I didn't wanna have to ask for help on this, but what the hell...
