speedo test

Post by carpman » Tue Aug 03, 2010 6:34 pm

I think i have killed my speedo is there any way to test it ???

Its out of its case now so i can see all internals , in the middle underneath the mile/trip counters there is two metal casings 1 inside the other form a semi sealed unit , i can move top/inner casing by moving needle and the lower/outer casing by rotating gears ...

Are these casing parts supposed to move indivually or are they supposed to move as 1 unit ?

when you say you've killed the speedo, do you mean it just wasn't working, did you check the cable incase it's damaged, the nylon spigot on the front sprocket to see it it's rounded ?
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....

There is a previous post explaining how this came about ...viewtopic.php?f=24&t=19924

Speedo cable is fine i have even tried spinning the speedo up with a drill (in reverse) and still no joy...
