MOT Fail - Tyga Headlights
Just had the bike in for MOT and its failed on headlight alignment. ( although it passed last year at the same garage ). Its too high and doesnt throw over to the left on full beam. Both elements in both bulbs are working.
Its fitted with a tyga aftermarket fairing and headlight.
The examiner said that sometimes the bulbs can be the cause if they dont have the black paint on the ends they dont reflect the light back into the reflector.
Anyone got any suggestions? there is no means of adjustment on the tyga headlight?.

Re: MOT Fail - Headlights
Have you checked that the bulbs are properly located in their sockets and they are in good condition first?

Re: MOT Fail - Headlights
Both new bulbs and theyll only go in one way, the beam seems to be more vertical than horizontal and doesnt dip to the left. The bulbs are 12v 25/25w and dont have the black ends like the newer type bulbs, it appears this type cant be had with the black paint?

Erm
You should have 12v 55w/60 H4's for a UK bike
and 12v 35/60w for Jap spec

Its not the standard headlights, its got the tyga spark fairing and the tyga headlight to go with it, they dont take the same type of bulbs.

Mine failed to with a TYGA kit. He put some duct tape over it and told me to leave it on
Tape it up and give that a go.

Re: MOT Fail - Tyga Headlights
He just stuck a piece of duct tape across the light which overlapped the fairing on both sides. It was a really quick job, no thought was put into it so I took it off, looked horrid. I never get cars flashing me or anything so I wouldn't really worry about it.
Since the garage has the correct equipment I'd ask them if they can tape it up for you and it will be a pass.

Re: MOT Fail - Tyga Headlights - Now Passed
For anyone else who comes up against the same problems, I taped it up and took a couple of photos.
The examiner was ok with it, but said it was a border line pass the alternative was a daytime MOT.
