Ello all, a few more problems with the my NC30 project, the bike starts up fine, idles around 1.2k rpm when warmed up and well sounds fine to me. However when I apply a little more throttle its fine up until 5k to 5.5k onwards (depending on how its feeling that day!) it begins to sound rough as hell. Not sure why though!
So far I've sorted the; valve clearances (I blame this for making the bike run fine at low revs)
Cleaned the air filter
Checked spark plugs
Had a look in 3/4 of the carbs (Screws in the other one are being... stubborn...)
Chucked Redex through the tank
Reading on another subject on here I have;
Replaced the regulator / rectifier (99p on ebay!)
Checked the vacuum pipe too
Many thanks,
Mike

Re: NC30 sounding rough at 5k rpm
its cutting 2 cylinders at 5.5k as its going into limp home mode, pink wire (i think) from the cdi needs to be +12v or a fuse has blown/dodgy connection.

Re: NC30 sounding rough at 5k rpm
Am I right in thinking that this is the doing of the Rev limiter in the speedometer?
I know the speedo and light don't work either. So could either be the bulbs gone or I ballsed up the colours again (I'm colour blind
).
When its plugged in I'm going to guess the rev limiter wont kick in while the speedo cables knackered. Hadn't noticed it wasn't working as the bike hasn't been ridden for ages!
Many thanks,
Mike
