Re-furbishing fork stanchions

Post by HondaSan » Sun Jul 11, 2010 4:45 pm

I've just disassembled my NC30 forks and measured the runout on the forks and both are out by approx 1.25mm (out of spec). One of the forks is also pitted slightly.

Does anyone have any recommendations (in UK) of places to have fork stanchions straightened, re-plated and ground to size please?

I'm hoping that 1.25mm runout can be straightened?

Thanks.

LM Spares sell new stantions / seals and oil but there £194.00

http://www.lm-spares.co.uk/acatalog/VFR ... 90-92.html

Wemoto Also sell the stantions

£97.00 each.

Not sure about the plating / straightening but if it were me i'd get the yellow pages out and ring around for some quotes

Cheers -- I've sent off some emails for quotes to a few companies advertising in the bike mags so we will see what they come back with.

A recommendation from a satisfied customer always helps make the decision though
