Exhaust Re-fitting!

Post by Wacko Jacko » Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:26 pm

Hi i'm just about to refit an Exhaust System to my NC30.

I have Standard Front pipes + Rear Manifold and a Yamamto Half System.

List of Gaskets etc:

2 x Exhaust Port Gasket (Rear Manifold Not Removed)
2 x Exhaust Rear Manifold to down pipes
2 x Collector Clamps

I am a bit unsure if a gasket is required where the front pipes meet the Yamamoto system i know it needs the clamps but does it also require a gasket?

Thanks

Standard system gaskets.

Some aftermarket systems dont' need gaskets. You might get away with some silicone sealant.

That diagram helps alot thanks.

Looking at it I don't think the yamamoto system requires the gaskets where it meets the front down pipes. I think it just needs clamps.

Some1 please correct me if I'm wrong.

Where do you guys recommend to purchase. Dave silver?

You dont need gaskets to fit the yammy, and you dont really need clamps. On my Yammamoto i just used a bit of silicone sealant on the joins. As long as the fronts and rears are clamped up it wont leak. But to fit it you might need to loosen the fronts pipes to fit the yammy properly. If so your going to need copper gaskets,t get mine off ebay 4 for a fiver!

:plus:

You can't use clamps because from memory the yamamoto pipes aren't slotted like the originals so won't clamp it any firmer.

Cam, is right there are no slots on the yammy, a few times ive seen diy slices so you can use clamps, but the Yammy should fit over the standard pipes about an inch and a half and should be nice and tight.

Cheers guys you've saved me some money. Will only need 4 gaskets then.

What sealer did u use for the joints?

Will be polishing up the system and hopefully fitting this weekend. Will post some pics up this weekend. Just need to get a link pipe and race can now.

I never sealed my Yammys - they were plenty snug already
