Urgent help please!!!

Post by skinnydog0_0 » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:48 pm

I have just tightened my headstock bearings as they were a little loose, and i have noticed that the forks seem to be out of line. when i put the handle bars back on, the left bar is closer to the tank than the right when the front wheel is straight. The top fork clamp also seems to be out of line. i have loosened the fork clamps and tried to get it straight but it doesn't seem to be moving. do i need to remove the front wheel, or loosen something else?
I have to get the bike loaded on teh trailer for a trackday tomorrow, so need to get it sorted ASAP.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The handlebars can be moved in position left and right a few degrees iirc if thats your problem ?

The top and bottom clamp wouldnt be out of line unless your forks were bent.

No i don't think it's teh handlebars, as they are both pushed out to maximum, and the forks still dont seem right, i havn't pranged the bike, and it was fine before.

You should measure the forks and yokes with a straight edge ?

Thanks Old Painless,
I undid everything and re tightened it all, i think it may have been the clutch cable getting between the stop and the headstock. it looks okay now, but will see when i ride it tomorrow. Cheers
