Rear suspension ride height.

Hi all. Looking for some help.

I'm a reasonably tall ride for the NC24 and was looking into rasing the rear to make the seat height a little higher which in effect would also sharpen up the steering. I also like the tail up stance, gives it a bit more of a modern look.

Does anybody know if a company does a shorter dog bone linkage which would achive this?

I took mine off tonight with a view to cutting out a piece and rewelding it a little shorter. Of course I would have jiged it all up first so it all sat straight agian when put back on the bike. And I wouldn't have used the old stick welder sat in the corner of the garage, I am a qualified welder with proper equipment to hand.

I put this in past tence as I discussed it with my Dad (Engineer by trade) and after much huffing and puffing with some teeth sucking thrown in has disuaded me from doing it.

Has anybody ever shortend one of these linkages? If so, by how much? Or should I just try it and see what happens?

Drill it 8mm shorter and weld up the old hole...job sorted!

NC30 riders are known to have welded anddrilled their dogbones so no worries there....

That would put the hole into the thiner part of the dog bone would it not?

Does the area around the new hole need to be built up to resemble the extra meat around the original hole?

Is 8mm from the center of old hole to center of new hole, edge to new center or edge to edge?

Hmmmm, NC24 linkage sounds different to NC30/35? Any pics?

I'm not sure if the ratio on the NC24 linkage is the same as on the NC30? It's approx 3.5:1 on the NC30/35, so 8 mm centre to centre (for instance) will give you 25 mm of added ride height. The max you can go on the NC30 is about 12 mm centre to centre or you'll foul the exhaust - you might have to consider that on the NC24.

Couldn't you mock it up with a bit of straight bar with a hole in it, or is that too easy ? lol

I undid the rear linkage bolt last night and let the rear wheel drop to the floor and marked the hole center with a pencil this was probably a little over 12mm and as you say it was touching the exhaust. So 8mm center to center it'll be then.
