nc30 running probs kin ell

Post by stunc30 » Wed Apr 14, 2010 10:43 pm

:x ive already made a couple of posts so far but ill start again i have nc30 import 3L
wasnt running right saw carb post by dataracer decided to investigate so far i removed restrictor washers cleaned carbs replaced 1 diaphragm all jets needles emulsion tubes are std and in the right place ,
fuel tap diaphragm shot so done hrc mod ,
ignition coils are within spec so is pulse gen and reg/rec knocking out right voltages ,
new plugs fitted,
the speedo has had half moon disk removed (earlier testing decided to do 2k mod to try to eliminate speedo as problem)also has blue mph converter
it also has a REDREV SUPER LIMITER CUT (made by posh japan)pluged into cdi unit under rear seat bike seems to run better with less flat spots with this plugged in god knows what this does ?i have already made a post about this but no joy,
it also has a cut in exhaust before tail pipe where i think previous owner was gonna cut it off and fit another its grinder blade width by inch long im due to get welded up ,
when riding 1st and 2nd gear will rev through to 14k go into 3rd will only rev to 11k and doesnt like to go much over 80mph
ive had carbs off a few times now and re-checked  and very depressed i think ive covered everything,
is this because im running std 115/118 jets the cut in exhaust or what ???????

Stu, that's a typical sign of running lean. I doubt that it's an electrical issue (but always can be on these bikes!).

Usually caused by running aftermarket filters and not jetting right, or modifying the airbox or snorkel and flap in front of the airbox.

Is your airbox setup completely standard??

The redrev gets around the speed limiter and lets you run no speedo (for the track) - it doesn't alter timing, etc. The mod in the speedo does the same thing - it's just that you (obiously) can't do that if you're not running a speedo! You only need one or the other.

Sounds like an airbox issue to me. Got any pics?

It also has an aftermarket filter which can flow differently to the standard filter (nc30's can be very temperamental when it comes to induction setup).

Get hold of an airbox snorkel and a standard honda filter and go from there.

Looks like your paying for a previous owner's mistakes!

Previous owners sure do some strange things with the intake snorkel.

Talking of the snorkel, mine has what seem like rubber walls inside separating the snorkel entry into 3 zones but these have been removed, is that correct or incorrect and is this something to do with derestriction or the previous owners stupidity. lol

er! old painless is that off a nc30 it looks quite different to mine even without the home made air ram system attached . :stu
