Pad fitting in rear caliper on a 92 superfour

Post by Superjack44 » Fri Feb 12, 2010 2:57 pm

Can anyone tell me what holds the rear brake pads steady in the rear brake caliper.
I know a pin holds them in place but is there anything else that steadys them.
Should there be a distance piece at the front where the pad locates and should there be a leaf spring in the top of the caliper to prevent the pad rattling .
Thanks for any info Jack.

Hey, I'm actually in need of replacing my rear pads and just wanted to ask if people think it's a straightforward enough job? I've got a copy of the Haynes CBR400 manual, which shows brake pad fitting, etc, so hoping I can just use that for help changing the pads on my '95 SF. Any advice for when replacing them?

I did not find anything difficult but nothing was seized, I removed the smaller12mm bolt so as to enable me to lift the caliper up from the rear, pads came straight out.
You will have to squeeze the piston back in to the caliper to fit the new pads.

I replaced mine last year, the pads were very old and had been on the bike at least 7 years and I had no problems. If you have had experience fitting other pads before it should be easy.
