Saw a couple of ebay listings where they are including some sort of tank/skin or cover. Has anyone had experience with this ? What exactly are they ? Do they save you from having to get tank painted ? Very curious but cautious...

I got one through japan auctions, came from China so assume same - great finish, hard wearing (had on for 2 months now), hard to get on but once on looks real good.great option rather than the 400$ it was going to cost me to paint the tank :-)

Thanks for info "Ice" I too agree if they look OK and work it's definately a great option over getting tank painted :)

Bought a set of the chinese fairings a few weeks back.

This is the fairing: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/RVF400R- ... 37425.html

Production time was 8 days then then fairing arrived 6 working days later.

Upon first look I was pretty amazed at the quality of the paint job and the plastic itself, considering the money I paid.

Holes in the bottom cowls had to be opened up from 7mm to 10mm. New hole had to be drilled in the rear seat but other than those everything fit nicely. Installation took about 1 hour.

Wow, fitting looks amazing! Can you write the whole link out again please? It shortened it for me for some reason and didn't get the entire link?

Bit of a newbie here and this may be a stupid question.
How do you easily tell the difference between OEM fairings and aftermarket? I'm on the market for a vfr400r project and have my eye on one.

Just finished spraying the unpainted fairing kit I purchased in December. It has taken me 3 months to get this far cause I am a professional procrastinator.

Still saving up for a few decals to complete the job and trying to source tank rubbers from somewhere on our planet.

Tamaver - look at the inside of the fairings - there are product codes on oem - mr8 000 000 or something. Also oem join bits will sit very nicely, Chinese tend to be average, often gaps around the taillight, or 1/4 sections. Some aftermarket front nose and 1/4 sections are combined. Also 1/4 section to lowers use 1/4 turn quick release on oem for the front two bolts.

Cybahag. Did you try image works in the uk? That or I believe there is a guy in cork of you look up an ad on adverts.ie or something I remember seeing a year back.
