Removing decals
Hello
The original tank stickers on my NC35 need replacing but are a pain to remove, they are a bit old and brittle so don't come off cleanly. Anybody got any ideas how to sort this? Should I use a solvent to soften up the plastic or warm them up with a hair dryer???
Looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
Cheers,
Mattrc23.

Re: Removing decals
I've de-stickered a few bikes. Main ingredient is patience - you'll regret rushing it and screwing it up.
My approach is to use a heat gun gently and from a distance (i.e. not too close to melt/burn things) and several wafts over. Then select a corner and gently pick it and then try to peel it off. Sometimes snaps, no probs start again. When have the top layer off, use several very soft cloths and something like Autoglym tar and adhesive remover to remove the gunk - that bit can take ages. When all off wax and polish.
Here's some I did earlier (Blue Peter stylee...)
Unless of course the are lacquered over...

Re: Removing decals
Read somewhere that you can use dental floss to cut under them with a sawing action which won't affect the paintwork.
Haven't tried it myself yet though, but it might help.
