I notice that you have an oval Daytona Steering Damper fitted. Have you tried to service it with one of these kits?

DAYTONA ROUND STEERING STABILIZER REPAIR KIT Item #: 17-053

My damper feels a bit rough when the adjustment knob is turned up past halfway. Also, should there be any defined clicks, or is it a smooth rotary adjustment?

Dave.

Dave, no need to service it yet, it was brand new, and yes it's a Daytona kit. I think mine has defined clicks, not sure I haven't set it up and haven't ridden the bike yet. I'll check for you later.

I've had several daytonas, they've all clicked throughout their adjustment range.

Thanks, I thought so. I'm a bit concerned that the shaft may get knocked and its setting altered accidentally.

was just watching moto gp 125 and as they pulled up there was a great shot of smiths and espagaro's steering dampers, smiths was mounted like rvf's and espagaro's was mounted like mine so it obviously makes no differance o and its nice 2 see a part on my bike being the same as a part on a 125 gp bike :D

Dang, for a minute there I thought it said crotch damper!?!?!?!? :o

I like your mount better on the damper body because you have a heim ball joint built into it which keeps it closer to the frame. I had to use a 8mm male heim joint threaded through the mount on mine so it sticks out a 1/2 inch or more.
