poor acceleration

Post by carl1 » Sun Apr 19, 2009 7:44 pm

Have ongoing problem with nc23

On full acceleration bike hesitates(stop accelerating)then goes again especially between 6000-11000 rpm.

Have cleaned carbs 3 times new plugs, filters, balanced carbs
gets better then comes back again longer the ride worse it gets

any ideas? could it be valve clearance?

could the problem be related to fuel flow? if it's only happening on full acceleration.. :?:

A few questions.
On a cold start will it run on all 4 straght away ?
Is it hard to start when hot ?
Do the revs drop when you push the choke back in ?
What size main jets do you have ?
Was their any water in the carbs ?

Is the fuel tap and fuel filter flowing enough fuel?

could be fuel flow?

Have fitted new fuel pump checked fuel flow against recommended in haynes manual
Tank has had new filters and o-rings.
Tank didn't have water in it,starts fine hot or cold.
But problem got worst when came back from week holiday started bike ,fuel leeked from fuel tap, fixed that ,went for ride and was terrible.

Perhaps need to look at fuel tap? but cant think what it could be in there as it is all new.
when i got the bike it had been stood for 3 years, only swilled tank out is there a better way of cleaning inside tank.
not sure about jet size,or if revs drop when choke pushed in.

Have noticed if I back the throttle off slightly from fully open the bike starts
accelerating hard again and doesn't hesitate

Any ideas?

sounds to be like vacuum. if when easing off throttle slightly it then starts to accelerate correctly especially.

try checking the vacuum for leaks or more so if its connected sounds silly but can happen.

......otherwise if not this then sounds like ht leads
