Headlights for Europe

Post by Swingarm » Thu Jun 01, 2023 3:08 pm

Long shot but I'll give it a try...

I imported my NC30 from the UK into the Netherlands (J-spec L model)

Went to get it registered today and was told that the headlights point left when they need to pint right for right hand side of the road driving.

Has anyone done this mod or know where to get suitable reflectors?

Thanks

S

I would think you can get a pair of NC Jap/UK spec lamps and fit them? Not worth a shot? Have you tested the dip?

Thanks for the reply

I suppose I should update this thread in case anyone has the same "issue".

Turns out that all NCs have uni directional headlamp lenses - whether official UK, Europe or Japanese spec

RO kindly shared with me links to Fowlers' parts list that show the UK and Austrian spec bikes, which have the same headlight lamp part numbers - The J-spec lamps have a different part number stamped on them, but since the Japanese drive on the left as per UK, I am assuming they are effectively the same uni-directional lamps.

So if you ever find yourself importing your bike to the EU from UK or vice versa, you just need to change the beam adjustment...

What a flippin' joy this has been...

Is that by adjusting the small screws with the springs behind them located on the back of the headlight housing?

Yep, the bottom ones in the centre of the headlamp assembly angle the beam left and right - screw in to make each light point toward the centreline

The top ones in the outer corners point the beam up and down - screw in make each light point up

The Haynes manual illustrates and explains it well
