How many are left?
I had a VFR400 in the late 90s. Loved it. It was 'M' reg. Made mistake of my life trading it in for a ZX6Ri n 2000. Hey ho, thats life i suppose, you live and learn.
Ive got an RVF400(1996) just now, not running great (suspect spark plugs) but thats a story for another day..... will get that seen to soon.
Occasionally look on autotrader bikes, mcn, gumtree, ebay etc for another VFR400 as a day to day bike. Ill admit to not wanting to use the NC35 much.
Out there there is such variability in prices and conditions. Do we have any idea of how many are actually left? Nc30/35? You see some really nice ones being offered for top dollar. Surely there cant be that many left to command such prices?

Re: How many are left?
Last recollection it was the cbr400rr that was by a long way the lowest.. there is a website that can tell you how many were on the road last year...

As a side note, I can’t find details about the nc24 or the nc35

Interesting. Numbers are relatively static. Obviously licensed is going down slowly.
I always fancied a CBR400R as well, that or a ZXR400. Think the ZXR400 was used more often on the track.

Re: How many are left?
Howmanyleft is only as good as the data provided at 1st registration or if owners update the DVLA with evidence the original documentation was either missing or wrong.
How many bikes were registered correctly, with correct model details etc.is completely unknown.
My V5’s on 2 Hondas, just state Honda, no model name, nothing. So my bike is not included in those figures.
Looking at the 2 VFR400 links, it’s only for L&M, no data for N.
The importer of my NC30 got the engine capacity wrong, the year of manufacture wrong and as the bike was unused/unregistered anywhere from build, they even mistakenly registered to themselves and not the purchaser as the first owner, and they were one of the biggest grey importers in the UK !
I have all the original documentation from import docs, first registration docs and all the letters of complaint from the first owner, the importers letters to the DVLA admitting their mistake, and finally the DVLAs response basically stating tough sh*t, they will not change the first owner record, so the original purchaser had to stay as the second owner.
It’s issues like this that mean howmanyleft can only be a crude guide particularly with older vehicles that were processed at a time when it was only or largely hand written docs being submitted to the DVLA unlike today where it’s all done online by dealers.

Re: How many are left?
As with anything, you can only work with the data you have got - I'd suspect that even DVLA don't know the correct figures.
What I can say though is. When was the last time you saw a 400 on the road whilst driving. I live in West London and unless I drive down to Box Hill on a weekend I'm really unlikely to see 400's of any description. There are not that many left.

Re: How many are left?
Agree on that, last time I saw another NC30 was 4 years ago, got talking to the guy, it was a very tidy UK model, his mate had told him to buy it as an investment, had no clue about what he had bought and was moaning it was too uncomfortable, just no helping some folks.

Re: How many are left?
Used to see loads. My local bike dealer, took over the ailing franchise, them built it up again with imported 400s from Japan. One of which was mine.
I did see a CBR400 the other month, and the other week saw another RVF400 outside a house near my local ASDA. Last place expecting to see an RVF.

Re: How many are left?
I travel quite a bit with my job and I've started seeing loads of bikes in the last couple of weeks (not in the least jealous, honest).
I have seen a couple of NC30s around Oxfordshire recently and a ZXR400L3 just outside Kenilworth just this evening on my way home.

Re: How many are left?
I looked at my v5 recently. No model is listed! Just says its a 399cc honda motorcycle....
Ive been looking for a CBR/VFR/ZXR 400 to buy, theyre either stoopid money or dogs. Nowt inbetween. To think there used to be 'millions' of them not so long ago.
Used to have a CB250N superdream (showing my age), once uopn a time you couldnt give them away. In a blast of nostaglia, looked at the prices.... £2k upward for a half decent one.
