Hello, I've been away from 400 racing for a few years now but I've decided to rebuild the bike again.

I've seen these .5 over size Chinese pistons forsale, has anyone any experience using them.? I'm thinking of trying a set. Ive searched through the forum and I can't find anyone with info that has used them.

I believe, Tham (Thamarillo on here) was using them in his engine a few years back with some success, might be worth dropping him a PM

personally I would steer clear as engines and engine components are getting harder and harder and much more expensive to find for these bikes and if one of those fails it will pretty much scrap the whole engine! if you'd asked me the same question 10 years ago it would have been a different answer back then you could pick up a good condition running engine for one of these bikes for about £50

Not sure if Tham is still on the forum but apparently the Chinese pistons needed a bit of fettling and he went with honda Gudgeon Pins and clips as the Chinese ones were a bit thin. I've got a set in the garage that I'm going to fit over the winter but really won't be able to report back until next year
