had a little slip on the CBR 400 going left outside my house. Roads are slippy!

Hi all,

I had a little slip on the CBR going left outside my home and down the road for football at 9pm.

Broke the brake lever, throttle cable housing a little messed up, brake lever scratched, frame scratched and clutch cover a little scratched as well

Yeah, you need to be extra careful at this time of year. I expect you've already started looking for parts. NC29 bits seem rarer than the V4's. I've seen brake pedal assemblies around and a replacement brake lever is easy of course. Clutch covers are a bit tricky. You'll probably be able to improve on the scratched frame but it's not easy to make that sort of damage disappear completely. Looks like you've got a bar end missing and the right indicator is obviously adrift. No damage to bodywork?

Yes I am ok thanks. I have another stock handle bar with the bar end. I also need to get a new throttle tube as it is broke. I got second hand good brake and clutch lever. I have got two other clutch covers and one is painted by a shop. Just need to swap it. I did not have any fairings on and for this reason of possibly dropping it. I am going to put my R & G crash bungs on it, like I should have done before the crash. :(

I got a brake pedal of a good friend, you can probably guess who that is :grin:

I have a spare screen as well in the house.

haha im not breaking my NC29. I'm doing it up, painting the wheels, callipers, new rear shock and front springs (forks) and carb clean and tune.




Will you be putting the fairings back on along with using crash bungs?
And im not after buying them i am only asking if you would be returning the bike back to its original form

When the bike has the fairings on, I prefer without the crash bungs but ill have to drill a hole really I guess and put the crash bungs because when the bike drops on the floor it is such a headache fixing this thing.

I cant be spending my money on fixing shit endlessly lol

What about Chinese fairings? I know they aren't the best fit straight out of the box but can be made to look ok with a bit of modifying, that way you can keep your oe ones and use the Chinese ones with the crash brings.
I've had mine a few years now (12) and still like the look of it im sure you are the same or you would have got shut after the tumble its just taken.

Don't drill holes in your fairing panels! These things are like hen's teeth. If yours are half-decent try to look after them. The Chinese fairing idea may be a good option for you if you keep dropping the bike..or stabilisers ;)

I just sent my rear wheel to get painted along with my front brake callipers. Painting the brake callipers silver, same colour as the forks I told him and then rear wheel gloss black. The previous wheel was painted gloss black as well. The bearing F***** the wheel, some bits of the bearing was in the rear wheel and did not want to come out.

I bought a second wheel from Andrew Simon for 40 pounds, so was ok.
