Sorry as I am sure it's been asked before, but I am rather dumb and am looking for pics....

Float heights, yes 12.5 mm but from where to what point??? And how is it best done as I am just sctrachin my head!!!

Nope, You need to hold the carbs so that the flange of the cover is vertical. Then slowly rotate the carbs until the float and the needle seat, then take your measurement. There a loads of youtube vids if that is unclear. Doesn't need to be NC30 specific

Majority of carbs are the same.

You want the carb somewhere near a 45 degree angle (diagonal from straight up)

When you take the bowl off the bottom of the carb to expose the internals youll see the plastic float, gently press it and you will see the pin it moves has a little spring loaded pin in the middle of it the float pushes on.

If the carb is upside down then the weight of the float itself will often push this spring loaded pin down and give you a wrong setting of the float height.

You want it about 45 degree, you'll know when its right (like in the 2nd picture i posted) the float will be resting on the spring loaded pin but not pushing it down, if you gently press on the float at this position youll feel it press down a little then spring back up from spring pin, this is the correct place to measure and set the float heights, if it is off use a small screwdriver to gently bend the metal tang that holds the float valve pin.. a little bend gives a lot of movement, check it several times.

Also a new set of gaskets will probably save you lots of time and trouble. It is quite anoying to have them leaking after you manage to fit them back on the bike.
