Honda NC30 high beam switch faulty

Post by BrandonPitt » Tue Jan 24, 2017 8:47 pm

Ih guys I just bought a nc30 for my first big bike. And I am having problems with the high beam switch. When I first viewed the bike at the sellers house I did the usual thing by testing the switch gear and everything worked. But when I got home and I ridden the bike I turned the high beam on then off but now the high beam stays on?? Can anyone help me!

Does the switch release or simply stick in the on position?

Likely an accumulation of crap in the switchgear. The quick fix should be to spray contact cleaner into the switchgear wherever you can whilst playing with the switch until it works as normal again, however it'd be best to just dismantle it and clean it up properly which is a fairly straightforward task.

Does high beam remain ON when the light switch is OFF, if so then the high beam relay would appear to be at fault. Otherwise it is most likely the switch and maybe fixed by following Coley's advice, although contacts do not usually stick ON, only the mechanism causing the button to fail to release.

No only when you put the main head lights on. But if you just put the side lights on the high beam don't come on but the pass button works.

Sounds like the switch contacts have stuck ON even though the button has released. Do as Coley advised and check the switch is not clogged with road grime.

Is there a low beam relay fitted?
