crash bobbins

Post by forgotime » Thu Jan 31, 2013 1:06 pm

Hi all,
has anyone tried these crash bobbins on ebay? Do they fit the n23 and work?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270490000960? ... 1423.l2649

And could someone post a picture to where I mount them on the frame.
Cheers

yes i bought a set off the seller & went to his workshop a few years ago for the NC30 i had at the time..
and you'll only know if they work after an accident which i rather not test.
i do have a set of R&Gs on the NC29 which sadly did get tested & ONLY protected the engine which is what they are designed for.
crash bungs are not designed to protect the fairings, only the engine.

thanks for the info.
Do you know what items you can use to protect the fairings?

only way to protect the fairings is not to ride ya bike!

There is nothing out there that will protect the panels. BUT i will advise you to stay well away from any crash bungs that look like roller skate wheels or claim "no need to cut holes in to fairings"
These are the worst things to fit, they will damage your panels more when you come off/drop the bike.
I DO advise on getting a set of R&G/ebay seller crash bungs* as they do offer the most protection.
Accidents can happen in all manners & the bungs only help to a certain point, hit a curb while sliding = nothing protects against that. simply drop the bike off side stand= much better protection.

* these type you must cut a hole in the fairings & best tip is to drill the hole 1-2mm wider than the head of the bung so you dont have to unbolt it every time you want to drop the panes off the bike.
