Little accident MIRROR brace

Hi all,
Just looking for some advice.
The other day I got a new rear tyre on my nc23; Avon storm 2. I forgot that you had to be careful on the first 150ish miles and dropped my bike down the road on the right side.

The mirror brace on the right mirror has bent inwards. Is it possible to bend the brace back out without cracking or breaking the metal bar? I haven't tried yet as I think I might break the metal bar or at the weilding joint? Do you need to apply any heat to make it bend easier? Any suggestions as to the best way to bend the brace back into its original position?

I've also bent the right hand side fairing bracket inwards. Will it be easy to bend the metal bracket back to its original position.

I have to get my right hand side fairings sprayed :s

Cheers

You may be better just buying another one. It will probably never be the same, but its worth a crack, what have you got to lose.

Even an old one of ebay will suffice, just get it powercoated. Cost me £5 to get mine done, yes a whole £5.

If you can find someone with a bench vice bung it in the vice then try straightening it using a piece of pipe or even a large old ring spanner over the end might work.. Judge by eye how much force/bend you will need, it may need a couple of turns and pulls to get it straight. Tap the bracket in the vice with a hammer. Put some soft alloy or cloth tween the vice and part to help stop scratching.

Edit... Also a quick sharp pull on the bar is usually the best way to shock it in to position.. Judge it carefully though as you dont want to pull too much.

I had to bend mine a little - held it in a vice & as mentioned above, did a little at a time (used a rubber mallet to tap it) until it looked about right.

Thanks for the info guys
I will try to bend the brace using the above methods.

I've bent my side fairing brackets too. Anyone have stories of trying to bend those back too?
Cheers
