Don't take this as a personal bash at you, but I don't know why people call it limp home mode.

Limp home mode is something modern cars go into when a sensor fails to avoid untoward engine damage.

What happens on the NC30 is a deliberate restriction to limit top speed.

Anyhow, that does look like a de-restriction box, not sure of the make but I assume it plugs in between the ignition box and the loom.

Plenty of ways to stop the speed restriction kicking in if you remove the stock gauges even without that box but sine you already have it, best to try that first.

I dont know what the box in the image is, looks like a derestrictor but I cant be sure from just a foto.

Best, easiest, cheaper (no cost at all) and no-drawback method of derestricting a VFR400R-NC30 is to do this:

This is the bikes 6pin CDI plug. The CDI side, not the bikes.

All you have to do, is get the orange_with_blue_line wire pin out of the plug, and stick it permanently to the black_with_white line wire.

Just what the image above shows.

In this way, the bikes 180kmh restrictor is completely gone. After doing this, you can also remove or modify or replace with aftermarket speedometer, with NO ''limp home'' issues.

Or just fit a UK speedo, or remove the contacts inside the kph one ;)
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

your all mis-understanding me guys I know this will derestrict the bike thats why i bought it lol...
What I want to know is if it is the right type of derestrictor box so that I can remove my speedo altogether and fit the koso rx1n gauge cluster without any issues as I have a 1989 jap import nc30 with a sensor in speedo wiring that tells ecu when clock is removed so the bike will not run right..??

thanks raptor but I am sure i read a thread on here with either rick oliver or drunkn munky who seem pretty clued up saying somthing about either wiring in a resistor to remove the clock or leaving the jap sensor in a waterproof bag which is crud ,, unless you had a certain type of derrestrictor box just tryin to find out if mines ok??
