Hi out there....
Have a little question for you! I guess my rectifier went the other day, as the bike is very difficult to start and the head light is dimming with revs, all hints lead to rectifier. So I checked what is written on the "old" rectifier and found this:
SH633-12
5.3
I found plenty of SH633-12, but they all had something else in the second row......
So here is my question. What is the 5.3 and is it important that I get exact that again, or would a lets say 0.7 or somewhat else also do?????
Thanks in advance
Katrin

Re: finding the correct rectifier....
Could just be a random supplier code? I had the same problems as yourself, plus wasnt charging the batter fully and it'd be dead after a week (sometimes died on me when out riding
) but i got myself this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-SELLER-New ... 3372a9c5f8 and its been perfect every since.
Bit of a risk being ebay cheapo jobber, but thought id 'risk' it given their feedback and even if i leave the bike a month it starts first time perfectly
Obviously that one might not be correct for you depending on which CB400 you have...

Re: finding the correct rectifier....
I would have thought most of the SH(unt) type reg recs from any bike would do the trick.
If it is a 5 pin version then you are good to go.
I have a Yamaha reg rec on my NC30 - fitted the right spades and soldered them on, all good.

You would do better to fit this or one like, than the cheapo chinese eBay parts.
CBR125 regulator from carb model 2004-7.
Done same on dad_morti's CB-1, works perfectly.
