Hi all..

so im underway..panels off (all honda)and in process of being repaired ready for paint.the guy is going to fit thin sound proofing foam to rear of panels as it will givea bit of extra strength to them..

I met the movac guy last week with the paint codes courtesy of the forum so he;s checking they can do the red white and blues..

Only thing im not sure about is colour scheme? should i do the phase1 or 2 rwb schem?(ie rc rep or not) any advice?

Rick oliver has put me in touch with one of the members for supply of decals which im going to apply before panels are all laquered..

Next this week calipers, wheels, brackets, radiators etc all ready for stripping, priming painting..

I did notice when i rode it, it had a flat spot at around 5000rpm. its currently running a blue flame exhaust. so maybe jets? not balanced? Ticks over fine, starts no problem and upto and beyond is fine..

Going to do plugs leads etc along with all fluids and filters whilst in bits obviously...

Just read the carb guide link and it seems pretty straight forward, where is best place to get jets in norwich?

The receipts i have show its had a rear end rebuild complete with rear discs and pads tho not very good? Usual?
So thats good..also got refurbed shock.. so shouldnt have to worry to much about that..

Going to do the reg/rec as suggested by you guys and fork upgrade? is this something i could undertake myself? relatively mechanically minded..

pics coming tomorrow

thanks again.....

oh let me know if im posting wrong

Sounds good mate.

If you're unsure about any mechanical work, get yourself a Hayne's workshop manual, it's invaluable.

Deciding on paint scheme is a personal choice - both of those schemes look good. Only 1 of them though is a classic... ;)

The 5000 rpm flat spot is common. Raising the carb needles can sometimes help (covered in the carb jetting guide), fitting a good aftermarket exhaust system helps more so in my opinion.

The rear brake on these bikes is not very powerful - yours is normal!

Take pics and post them up as you go.

this is it after degreasing and steam cleaning...

This afternoon the rear subframe is off obviously along with all the loom, rear brake, chain guard, battery, tank.

Iv stripped the clocks off too..

whilst stripping the exhaust snapped a stud!! so gonna have to deal with that..

So far so good otherwise..

decition made phase one scheme it is...
