Daily Riding RVF400(NC35)
Hi All,
I'm 20 year old male from Australia, I'm 170cm tall and around 70kg.
I've recently been looking into getting a RVF400 for my first sport bike but also for the daily trip to work.
Used to have a KLX-250 mainly for off road but did do some road time.
Just wondering how these goes riding daily, I'll be doing around 60km a day.
As it's my first sports bike I'm sure will take a little while to get to the change of seating position but anything else?
I'll plan on doing my own minor servicing but is there anything else I should be aware of, etc etc?
Any opinions and advice you would be able to give me would be great!

60km's a day, easy on a 400, and you'll be grinning from ear to ear
I used to commute 380km's a day on my NC30

They make a good commuter if you're young and flexible (same goes for any sports bike). Very reliable engine, but electrics (charging system, reg/rec, generator etc) can be a bit suss until sorted properly (like all hondas of this era really).deviot wrote:Just wondering how these goes riding daily
If you're doing your own maintenance make sure to get a Haynes manual, it's invaluable. The little V4 can be a bit fiddly to work on but no problem at all once you're familiar with it.
The build quality of the rvf is good, it's a lot of bike for your money really. I would go for one with all original fairings (paint included), they'll always hold their value better than modified examples, but I guess it comes down to personal taste.
Get one, you'll love it.

The only comment I would add to those above is that if your buget does not extend to an NC35 you might consider an NC30. They are technically very similar and the somewhat lower price can make an NC30 very attractive. I purchased my NC30 for $3500 unreg in very good condition while NC35s started at $5500.

Hey mate I'm from Sydney, I commute my RVF everyday to uni and back which is 60kms in total, only one down side it, petrol... I get like 210kms out of it. Apart from that, they're great!

I commute on mine daily and i'm 6'2" and get on with it fine. Commute about 55miles a day and no problems. Fuel is good I think, yes about 210 kms until reserve, so 13 litres which works out at around 40-45 miles per gallon so not really too bad if you ask me considering you can have some fun on it and not having to watch your throttle to get that mileage.
I don't think you'll regret buying one. Had mine for 7 years now a love it. Doing your own servicing is pretty straight forward as long as you have a few half decent tools and some patience and it will reward you in the long run. Let us know what you decide, and enjoy! :-)

it will take some getting used to though. when i first sat on my nc29 it felt horrific, and the ride home was seriously uncomfortable. now, i really like it and will happily clock a few miles up no trouble at all

I go for my learner on the 20th of this month (Last one expired -.-) Then I will go out and find the one I want!
Only reason I'm waiting till my learners is I'm not sure I could wait with it just sitting there

I bought mine before I passed my test, which was good in a way. Yes it's torture a little but while it's sat there in the garage, but you then at least have time to get it all minted and change anything you want etc before it's big day out on the road :-)

When I passed I rushed home to tax and insure it, then took it for a 90 mile run so I could get used to it.
