Nc24 battery Not holding charge

The battery keeps going flat after every ride out, when I got the bike the yellow wires under the seat that leads to the the left side of the engine ( I thinks its the fly wheel ) they had broke of the plug , so I re wired them in best I could !! Could this be some think to do with it or is there any other reasons why this is happening ? When riding and battery is losing the charge the bike has no power over 5 rpm and the cuts out !! Please help

if its the same as the NC30/35 the three yellow wires lead into the rectifier/regulator...if they aint joined properly then the battery aint gonna be gettin no juice to charge it...
sounds like you need to buy a new connector plug and get your soldering iron out.

I have all the wires there I just need a way of finding out which goes were ? Any ideas ?

i thought you knew where the wires went and it was just a case of joining them back together properly... if they are not properly joined you wont get the voltage/current to the reg/rec. ideally they need soldering.
on the 30/35, three yellow wires come from the alternator on the left hand side of the engine (left when sitting on it)
these run across the engine to a connector block, there are a number of connector blocks that sit in a metal frame thats bolted to the frame. the three yellow wires come out the connector block and run to the reg/rec...

you can run the three yellow wires DIRECTLY to the reg/rec if you want (bypassing the connector block), solder female spade connectors and plug them directly onto the reg unit

That's what iv done but the 3 wires when I took the tank off were broke off from the plug, so had to kinda guess which one went where :( we are on about the same thing but I just want to no how can I tell which one of the 3 wires join were , ? I could pay £20 to get a wiring loom but the ones iv seen there have left the wires from
Fly wheel on bike plus if I can work out from
Some ones help how I can work this out it be free ;)

the three yellow wires can go on any connection to the reg/rec.. im assuming the other 2 wires (black + red ones? not sure if thats the right colours....) are still plugged in?
the two other wires need to be correctly placed but the three yellows dont have to be in any kind of order onto the other three connections.

That's good because when I seen the wires had broke I had to kinda guess which went were , All other plugs under the seat in the block were fine , I hope , just the plug going to fly wheel were broke , so if ur right about the order of them wires not being a problem then that might not be the reason it's losing a charge :-/
?? Wonder what else could be causing the bike to get no
Charge ,? Any way of testing to see if the bike is producing a charge ? Could be bad battery ? Or regulator faulty ?

The Reg/Rec on the NC24 has two seperate plugs, one for the output and one for the input (3 yellow wires)

The yellow wires can go in any order.

If they broke off theres a chance they melted.. this shows a dodgy charging system.

How old is the battery?

First.. charge the battery up fully with a bike battery charger.

Start the bike with the yellow plug disconnected.

Get a multimeter set to AC voltage (manual ones have a choice of usually 200 / 750).. 200 is fine.

pick two of the wires and with the bike at 5000 rpm put the probs on the wires.. you should have aroudn 50v.

Repeat this test with the other wires.

If you call the wires A,B and C

Check

A & B
B & C
A & C

All 3 sets of readings should be the same and aroudn 50v.

Next. turn the bike off and reconnect the plug back up.

Start it up again and check the battery voltage at 5000rpm.. for this you want yuor multimeter set to 20v DC and put the probs on the + and - of the battery.

At 5000rpm the voltage should be aroudn 14.1.

Post back and let me know what you get... an aging battery is the first thing to replace before it takes out the charging system..

Iv just been given a multi meter and been seating on line how to
Bloody use the thing :-/ should have checked my mail on here 1st , I'll test it Saturday and be back in touch , just hope it's the battery faulty and nit the regulator Thanks ,
