New tyre advise needed

Hello,

Just brought some new BT92's for the VFR NC30 and will be fitting them soon. I am quite a new rider and this is the only brand new set of tyres fitted to any of my bikes.

I have seen a few videos on Youtube of people dropping the bike, which is both funny and scary as it looks so easily done. Have a look at this:

just take it easy to start with and you'll be fine

"Tyres come out of the factory covered in a slippery release agent to help them out of the mould.
You need to take extreme care when wearing that off. The first 30 miles should be taken very steadily.
Make sure the tyres are warmed up sufficiently before tipping it into corners hard"

It's a really odd feeling being on brand new tyres, not least because they will be round not squared off.

Take it easy til you get home, then I usually give them a good wash with soap and a dish-washing pad with scouring side - scotchbrite would also do if you have any. Not bike soap, just good old fashioned detergent, it's a stronger degreaser. You should then wash dish soap off the bike as it contains salt.

Either that or wobble around for the first 30-50 miles until you feel confident, up to you.

i have just got a new bt-90 for the rear , feels better/easier tipping into the corner now there not squared off, was going to take it steady for first 50 miles, but this didn't happen lol knee sliders bit more worn now i did wait until they were warm though.

When scrubbing a new tyre in the key is to do it progressivly. It doesn't need 100 miles if you do it right.

Start by riding the bike a few miles upright to wear in the centre patch, this will give you a nice firm base... now you need to start leaning the bike gradually..

the idea is you keep some of the good 'scrubbed in' centre patch on the road while wearing in some of the new shiney stuff.

Steady as she goes and keep the throttle smooth and the lean angle constant, gradually leaning over more and more until the tyre is worn in

on the subject of tyres, i need some for my NC30, whats the best make and what not to go for?
