The good, the bad and the stupid!

THE GOOD:

I recently became the proud owner of a 1989 NC30 in the seed colour scheme which I bought from Shorrocks in Preston for £1,595. I picked her up last month and have been thoroughly enjoying the few rides out so far. I wanted to give her a Japanese name being an import, but she's unofficially called Debbie at the moment after Debbie Harry as (in my opinion!) they both still look as good now as they did in the 80s!

THE BAD:

Took advantage of the nice weather today and came to work on my bike. Decided to go out for a lunch time blast. I didn't get very far though as I made a schoolboy error and ended up with us both on our arse!

THE STUPID:

I was behind two cars approaching a junction of a dual carriageway and as I was slowing down on the approach saw the first car join the carriageway, THOUGHT I saw the second car pulling off, look down the road, saw a gap, started to gas it, looked back and the second car was still there! Tried to swerve around it but clipped it with my left hand handlebar and then sent me down on my right.

Thankfully it was at low speed so there hasn't been too much damage done. I've got a bit of a sore rib on my right hand side and other than that I'm fine. My leather jacket isn't even scuffed. Unfortunately Debbie is a bit scruffed and scratched down the right although nothing looks cracked or broken. The radiator cover has come off though.

The guy in the car was sound though. Used to be a biker and helped me pick the bike up and get it out of the road, let me sit in his car for 5 mins to make sure I was ok then followed me back to work with my radiator cover in his car. Thankfully the only damage to his car was a broken driver side brake light cover.

I had bought the bike as a second bike for 'play' and to learn how to do basic maintenance and start tinkering with the odd upgrade here and there. I guess now I'll have to use it as a restoration project as well!

So I may be on here a lot asking for help!

Part of the fun of bikes for me is having a tinker. Sorry to hear about your spill but at least you're ok.

Yep I'm ok thanks. Just annoyed with myself for making a stupid mistake and scuffing a wonderful old bike!

That looks a tidy, genuine bike. Well did!

Glad to hear that neither you or the bike suffered too much damage.
