RVF ride height

Post by fastdruid » Sat Aug 09, 2008 4:53 pm

Well I'm back from a fantastic couple of days at cadwell and come to the conclusion the RVF really needs more ride height as I decked out the sidestand!

Partly that's going to be because the bike is set up for my wife and my extra 'muscle' ;) means I compress the suspension more, she's not got close. This means it's not much of a problem for her especially as I don't ride her bike that often, thing is though we also have an RVF track bike which I will be riding far more so I'll need to sort it on that.

Anyway, on to the point, is it better to add plates to the ride height adjuster, shorten the tie-bars or fit a longer shock?

Any suggestions on what's the best amount to raise it by?

Oh and a few images of the RVF's over the mountain.

I added 5mm to the top of the shock per recomendations of others on this board as well as others. The HRC recomendation is 5mm also so that might be a good place to start. That is, if you haven't already done this??? Any suspension work to either the track or street RVF? Just curious.

Nothing done, both on stock suspension, stock ride height. Preload set on road bike, not on track bike (ran out of time to set it up pre-cadwell, was going to do it on friday but it broke so no point).

Track bike has a 18inch NC30 rear on which has to go. It's running stock NC35 tie bars although I have some shortened ones too. I'm going to rebuild the forks and set everything exactly the same as the road bike as that handles a treat (as said enough to happily scrape sidestand[1]).

Decent aftermarket suspension is on the cards but can't afford it right now.

I'll add 5mm and start from there.
