Few NC30 Questions

Post by porndoguk » Sun Jun 19, 2011 10:07 pm

been out on a 200+ miles round trip alone today and its when on these long journeys you notice annoying things!

1 - my bike rode great however since fitting the tyga rear sets gear changes are hard and at times imposible! especially when cold and in 1-2nd gears

i have a longer than usual Titanium rod, this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RVF-400-VFR-400-N ... 43a759a00e if i shorten this, will my selection get better? i have about 5mm thread showing each end but it does apear that i can get the rod in either ends rose joints any deeper.

also legs seems a little more cramped up due to about an extra inch in height of the tyga over the oem ones,

2 - 14T sprocket great round town WANK on the motorways i managed to get 140 (on private road) on the clock sssssshh but i would guess this to be about 120 tops!

also did 115miles and it hadnt ran out of fuel, so i assume the mileage was out,

when coming home with the wife in her car she reset her odo, and i did once i filled up,
when i got back my speedo was showing 114miles hers was showing 105 miles in the zafira.

i did follow her on the M6 and as we were going through the speed traps she was sticking at 60 and my bikes clock was at 75mph! i was behind her.

so result for this is to change back to a 15T as this will be much more suited for my choice of NC30ness,

3 - Ear Plugs what a bloody good invention tried a set there, but didnt coming home, didnt realise how annoying loud my exhaust is, but i have put the thought of the previous 15T and 80mph speed out of ther equasion so was riding at higher rpm! my ears were ringing.

4 - Chain is off for a thorough cleaning, currently soaking in a pan of petrol, will get it cleaned up fully tommorrow then leave in a pan with 90W gear oil, i got 5L of Fuchs from my old car that i never got round to useing so its still new :D

5 - Uncomfy! how uncomfy is the NC30 after 50miles continuous, ive never noticed until today without having a break!

6 - still love the bike and will NEVER part with her, its amzing how far we have come ive done 2000miles since last july, and the day i got her she broke down 3 times, and now she seems to be super reliable as a thank you for all the hard work, care and TLC ive given her.

I have the same rearsets and link rod and I couldn't fit the link rod in with the linkage arm on the gearbox end in the standard position so had to move it - the dots don't line up now but the gear changes are OK.
Didn't realise the 14t sprocket would throw the speedo out that much!
My tyga system came loose from the front headers today. Now that's loud! It was so embarrassing.
And yes, the 30 beats the shit out of my back and I'm not even old!

Ricky, this is why you need to 2 bikes mate, obviously 2 nc30's - 1 for fast road & 1 with bt92's, a road can & more suitable gearing.

Ive managed 3 or 3.5 hours of blasting around with my lot, in & around aylesbury & bedford - brilliant roads, not sure how many miles it was but a good few, i had to go to sleep when i got back, i was bolloxed & my body felt as if i had been beaten up!

I love my 30 but its a tool & for a specific job, long hall & motorways aint really it.

got a tyga step kit on another bike gearchange is slick no slop etc feels nice n positive and look well made. ii have difficulty getting neutral on mine but guess thats a characteristic of that particular bike . tried adjusting everything location on spline chain run slacker clutch adj etc just need to live with it.

it also has a 14t gearbox sprox and whenever i go past one of these smiley face speed signs doing 37 mph it thanks you .either these signs are roughly calibrated or my speedo is overeading the latter me thinks,

Get a ZXR.. bigger so more room, loads more comfortable to ride.. plus the pillion seat is of a size that somebody can actually sit on it! (L model)

You wouldn't expect to get 115 miles out of a full tank?

i could get 120 out of a tank down to reserve with a 15t and a further 40miles to the end of the reserve of the tank.

Crikey- we may have found an actual benefit to being restricted to 33bhp! I've been trying to test my tank distance recently and last time out I got 155 miles from 11 litres of fuel.
