Hi guys, looking to pick your brains!

My NC30 is making a hell of a noise from either the g/box or clutch only in neutral

Basically you leave the clutch leaver all the way out and it sounds perfectly normal, pull it in even slightly and a grinding noise starts (same noise as a nackered thrust bearing on a car if that makes sense?) put the bike into gear noise dissapears, bike pulls away as if nothing is wrong, back to neutral after a few seconds the noise re-appears!

happened out of the blue...

Please help before it causes any damage cheers

Sounds like your thrust bearing is no good - bikes have one too. As you say, best get in there and change it quick before it shreds itself as swarf all over the inside of your engine.

Thanks for that.
is it a fairly straight forward job to do? im guessing this is the bearing that comes out first when you remove the clutch plates?

That's the one! If it's anything like nc23/29 engines, it is barely even held in to the clutch, should take no longer than removing the cover, and scraping the gasket off. Never worked on a 30 though.
