Hi i am needing to restrict my bike to 33bhp. just wondering if anyone knows if i need a certificate saying its restricted, or would a dyno graph do? also if i bought the restrictor kit second hand can you send off for a new certificate? Thanks. PS got quoted £300 in labour costs to restrict it, is this outrageous or the standard price

Speak with your insurer about the restriction, not sure what is required 'by law' I'm afraid.
£300 is an absolute joke, it take's 2 hours top's to get it all done and put back together.

300 is ridiculous. As Alex says 2 hours tops. That's with very little experience with spanners and bikes. It costs approximately 200-250 for a garage to fit the kit from FI and that should include a certificate.
The need for a certificate has been discussed to death. To summarise;
There isn't a law that you must have a certificate to prove your bike is running at 33bhp. Although some insurers require some sort of proof. Be it a legit certificate from FI or a dyno run.
Fit the kit yourself if it came with your bike and dyno it if you need to. Cheaper and you get to learn about the bike on the way.

2hours! is that with a fag break and cup of tea and have a shit break?

1hours tops, 6 allen bolts, rear seat unit off, (discon brake light) 1min
14mm bolt tank off (discon hoses) 1min
air filter housing and screws 5mins max
upper inspeaction covers off, 5mins max
discon choke, idle, throttle cables, 2mins
undo 4 rubber clamp screws 5mins (fiddly)
pry carbs off 20secs

rip out or fit washers 20secs

refit carbs 5-20mins
and then reversal of the rest

looking at a 60min job

thanks for the response, yer i thought 6 hours at £50 per hour was total bull but i posted it to see peoples reaction lol ill ring insurers tomorrow, I thought it had to be signed by an approved garage thats all, i could do it myself

JUst thought that I would mention, seeing that the previous replies involve the washer restriction kit, that if you can get your hands on the throttle restriction kit instead it might be better. I have one placed on mine.
The advantage is that you can stick your hand under the fairing and turn it off, et voila derestricted, then flick it back down, restricted. Disadvantage is that it's a lot slower than the carb job

yer nice, but got it booked in for restriction £295 at doncaster motorcycles including kit (not bad) also there is a nice looking rvf nc35 having some work done in there. PS passed mod 1 test today

as the lads have said above, the job is a piece of piss to a regular nc30 owner.
