carbs ultrasonic cleaning, before and after
Not that long ago, I bought a set of NC35 carburettors for my NC30. Got them for a good price, they came with the airbox and the grim
...
So after seeing a couple of posts here about these ultrasonic cleaning machine, I decided to take the plunge and buy one.
Didn't want to spend big money on such machine, so I got one for £26.95 off fleebay (290513180040). I had to fetch it myself from the courier company....
Was it the right size?
yes and no, you can't submerge a full carb so you need to turn it round and do several cycles of cleaning
Is it efficient?
I'll give 8.5/10
The crap that came out of one single carb body... see first picture below
I used some "Gunk" Engine de-greaser to finish them up.
Would I recommend such cleaning machine?
If you're going to clean a few carbs, then spend the money and buy a bigger machine, if it's just a one off(ish) job, then that small one is more than fine.
There is no way you can clean them just by using some de-greaser alone.
Pictures are worth a thousand words, so a few selected ones:

And for a super mega large picture

Here's a video
As you can see from the color of the liquid... that carb was rather dirty

forgot to add something, the pictures really don't do justice.
I don't have good lighting to take some nice pictures in my flat, but when you hold a cleaned piece next to the dirty one... it's night and day

There is also Tickopur (solution in R33 and R77), but not sure if these can be bought at your location....well, it should be. Btw, nice little write up with the pictures how it is done with this ultrasonic cleaner

Re: carbs ultrasonic cleaning, before and after
I bought a slightly more expensive one from ebay £189 with temp control dimensions 300X100X100 and its been fantastic.Bought similar solution and some seaclean solution from maplins. Cleaned 2 set of nc30 carbs, 1 set of rvf carbs and a rather nasty set of superdream 125 carbs which were in a very bad way. Started cleaning alloy footrests and all sorts now. Well worth the money.
