RIghtio,

Im going to scream, cry and then scream some more with this bike.

I bought it and head gasket was gone, so i got a 2nd engine from a fully running NC21.

While changing the exhausts the exhaust studs broke, So repaired that and then its all running now.

But while running it up today, its all smokey with blue smoke (oil)

I got it warm and then stopped it to run in and get my phone, came back and started it and it was less smokey on idle and woud start smoking at 7000rpm.

The bike sounds very very tappety but other than that it sounds like its running fine.

Could this be oil seals on the pistons going or you think it could just need a good run out as it has been sat a while

I cannot afford to put another engine in this or even strip this and hope to get a NC30 gasket set fitting this bike.

Sounds like worn piston rings. Where are you based? I have a good spare engine, I'm just repairing the rear head at the moment and then it should be fine. PM me for details if you are in the NW.

im in Midlands, Can people get a gasket set for a NC21/24 engine as if they can i might be able to over haul the engine instead of worrying about it

Don't know. Silvers nor Wemoto list any engine gaskets, except a clutch cover gasket (Wemoto).

Cereal packets and instant gasket by the looks of it

it is not advised rich, due to the pressure at the head of the engine.

Take it on a blast before the MOT, get it MOT and then i wont loose my NCB i built up, then if it still a prob i can strip over the winter and do a full rebuild including porting the ports etc etc etc

Sounds like worn bores / pistons / rings / some combination of this.

This usually writes the engine off, barrels arn't replaceable if theres any significant damage.

What new parts you can get are very pricey, and buying second hand parts like pistons (which should be match to bores) can be a bit of a mismatch.

Anythings do able though with enough money.

Best case it might be leaking valve seals, never come across any that have gone before, £3 each and you need 16...

Be wary about throwing too much cash at it though, you can still pick up bikes with original panels and in good working order for around £500
