I think some of the early 24's had NC21 on the frame (though this could be speculation) it wouldn't be the first i've seen, though who knows what happened to them in Japan. Could easily be a write off repair.

The engine numbers by the sproket cover, easy to see.

Hmmmm rather perplexed now - the engine number I found is right hand side above the gear box housing.

Frame - NC21-10113**
Engine - NC21-9977000881 (it was a little furry round there so I cleaned best I could)
.....and some photo's - apologies for the quality - didn't have time to charge camera etc - so off the phone lol

one showing silencer hanger and what I'm guessing are the pillion footrest mountings?
and the other a glance at the dirty old beast - showing the valve caps on the forks tho

Hmm

Frame - NC21-10113** - 86 RG frame

Image

Engine - NC21-9977000881

That doesn't make sense.

The Engine should start with NC13E

86 was NC13E-1030098 -> 1045640

Yep.

Not too difficult either.

Caveats to this would be the exhaust system.

The NC24 collectobox will bolt straight onto the NC30 engine, which you'd need to use as the NC30 system will hit the rear shock.

Not sure how well the NC24 4 - > 1 system will work, compared to say the 4 - 2 - 2 - 1 system of the 30 (split front / rear)

I prefer the 180 firings of the NC24 to the NC30, just sounds meaner? (can't think of good word)

NC24 lump in an RVF would be something i'd like to build.

Yep - I'm perplexed too, tried to have a look when I got home tonigh but a bit dark and and merky in the garage tonight so not had much joy. Bikes getting lifted off the engine atthe weekend so should get a good look then. Probably a dodgy engine knowing my luck !!!

Tho I'm glad of the comment about the hydraulic clutch-will look out for a master cylinder and different sprocket cover, be nice to have that as it should be. Though I'e guesse from looking around that the 21 didn't have a choke lever/cable (though I'll happily be wrong to have misunderstood) just hoping there won't be issues of the choke or switches fouling with a larger clutch lever setup.

I've found a NC24 sub frame on ebay which looks like mine, so I'm guessing thats been swapped out also, so shouldn't have too much trouble finding rear pegs/hangers

The NC21 has the same choke as the NC24, in the same place too, end of the switchgear between the clutch handle.

If you go for the hydraulic clutch you'll need the NC21 cluch pushrod too as it's longer than that of the 24.

Clean then engine number up and find where it says NC13E and you won't be far off.

Would you gain any performance advantage by putting an nc30 motor in the nc24 chasis? I suspect not as the nc30 and the nc24 both have around 60bhp.
