Deux points.
Question 2: Why is the rear brake on an NC30 only good enough to pass an MOT?

My rear brake is more effective at slowing the bike through its unsprung weight rather than friction

Yes, the rear brake setup is crap at actually washing off speed, but effective for slow speed maneuvering and line changes etc.
The front caliper colour is only related to the year the nc30 was made. Early (1989) models were gold, the rest were black. I think.

Thanks all for the replies, relieved to hear they are the same, I've got a spare set of calipers!
Next question following on from the replies, is how do you improve the back brake? It lacks any stopping power until applied very hard and has no feel what so ever, any thoughts?
