18" Slicks
Just been to my local bike shop, real olde world type biking shop and he's got some 18" racing slicks. 150/70/18. He' not sure how old they are, possibly 5 years old, but he said that I could have them for £20. He also reckons he has about 5. Bear in mind this is an olde world shop that is like a jumble sale.
Anyway that got me thinking, on a track day how great would slicks be?
Anyone fancy one or is a five year old tyre had it?

My concern was that old tyres might be shagged after 5years, what do you reckon?

Are they still wrapped in plastic?
Go for them if they're in decent condition!

I deliver and collect tyres for Kwik Fit and unused tyres are returned for scrap at 2 years old.

Re: 18" Slicks
Is there not DOT code on them? Not sure if slicks require them but it'll be a 3 or 4 digit code that tells you the year of mfg.mick.mh2racing wrote:Just been to my local bike shop, real olde world type biking shop and he's got some 18" racing slicks. 150/70/18. IE 2101 (21st week of 2001)
Three digits are for the 1990's 129^ 12 weeks of 1999
They also used 3 digits for the 80's too but they didn't have a triangle after them
